The worst ways to lose weight

I hear different strateiges all the time when it comes to people wanting to lose weight. I would say at least half the ways I hear are very unhealthy. It is because most people want to lose weight fast. Don't let your desire and motivation to lose weight lead you down an unhealthy road. Always remember most "too-good to be true" weight loss ideas are just that. Too good to be true.

It most likely took you months or years to put on excessive weight so do not expect to drop it fast. You have to stay consistent even when you don't see results. I can not stress that enough. You can never give up. Consistency is key when it comes to weight loss, or should I say fat loss. Losing weight can be hard and can take your mind through dark places when you start to cut out processed food and all the bad stuff because you are completely changing your lifestyle. However it is so worth it. It is so worth it because you have one life to live, you have got to take care of the one thing you are in control of in this life which is your body. Don't ever workout because you hate your body, workout because you love your body. Remember that always.

Here are what I believe to be the worst ways to lose weight!

1. A Juice cleanse! Juices have 0 protein. So that means you most likely will not have energy to workout while you do a juice cleanse but you also will be losing water weight and muscle mass before you lose fat. You don't want to lose muscle. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn and everyone wants and needs to be strong. Not to mention when you start eating food again, the pounds will come back.

2. Skipping meals! Yes skipping meals may have your calorie intake lower but it will also start to slow down your metabolism which in the end will backfire. There was a study they did with mice and the mice who ate one big meal ended up having more unhealthy belly fat than the mice who ate multiple meals a day. The study was founded by The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry. Being hungry sucks anyways, don't cheat your body out of the fuel it needs.

3. Eating fat-free! The huge low fat diet trend that made every company advertise their food as fat free. When they remove the fat they add sugar and salt so in the end it is not better for you. Also fat-free items are mostly processed and you want to try not to consume any food that has more than 5 ingredients.

4. Switching to Diet Soda! Cut out all soda even if it says 0 calories. The companies that make these products are seriously jerks! They are giving us poison. Stick to straight good old fashioned water. Artificial sweeteners are very unhealthy and won't make the pounds disappear.

5. Working out on an empty stomach! You always hear that working out hungry will prompt your body to lose more fat. However there has been a recent study that says when you work out fasted, you end up losing muscle not fat which is not what you want! Eat before you workout, your workout will be more enjoyable anyways.

There really is no secret to losing weight. Add exercise into your daily life, move with purpose and eat whole unprocessed foods. Eating 5-6 small meals a day is perfect as long as your portions are not too big. And drink a lot of water. :)
